Hitting the big time lavender fields now at Graysmarsh Farm. The sun was out and the air was literally humming with the sound of bees. Luckily they were more interested in the lavender than in us.

  • Absolutely beautiful - and unusual. My usual question. How did some farmer one day say - wow - this would be a great place to grow lavender - and I just happen to have some seeds?

  • The age-old question, Dad. How and why is it we eat lobster??

    — Catherine Hovell

  • You eat lobster because you are hungry and it is there. But a farmer could select 100 foods to plant - why did he choose lavender - and how did he happen to have a pocketful of lavender seeds. And obviously it thrives here - whereas the other 99 types of seeds might not.

  • Perhaps it's as simple as the seeds fell and thrived while others did not...
