Behind the wall of the patio are many prickly pears. They can be propagated by breaking off a single pad, or a stem of multiple pads, allowed to harden for a day or two, then stick in the dirt deep enough that they can stand. That's it. Oh yes: be sure to orient the pads in the same direction they were growing when you broke them off.
