Monica and I embarked on a pizza tour: on Thursday, we ate at Emporio in NoLiTa, around the corner from Rice To Riches, our favorite New York rice pudding shop of former money-laundering fame. On Friday (pictured) we ate pizza at Motorino in Brooklyn (highly recommended). We had both their upgraded "authentic" margarita pizza with buffalo milk mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes as well as another pizza with a soft cheese (Stracciatella), garlic, sea salt and raw basil which was excellent. Over the weekend we took a pizza holiday as we were in Hudson, but then on Monday night we tricked Aunt Debbie into joining us on our Pizza Hunt and ventured to the Flatiron district for AVPN approved pizza at La Pizza Fresca. On Tuesday we ate lunch at Fresco in midtown which pioneered grilled pizza which is more like a thin burnt crispy cracker with cheese and tomato. I think Motorino was my favorite while Emporio was my least favorite. Fresco and La Pizza Fresca were so different I don't know if makes sense to order them.
