Every street in Puerto Natales had a giant ground sloth on it. Puerto Natales is extremely proud of the fact that the remains of a 3m high sloth was unearthed in a cave outside town. Today, you can go to that very cave, and enjoy a paper mache life size replica. Pictures of this prehistoric Barney the Purple Dinosaur were on nearly all the postcards we saw, and his silhouette graced all the street signs in town.
