Yeah, things did not feel like what they looked like on the glacier. I noticed this right away because the white part I thought would be kind of snowy, if at least in a compacted hard kind of way. But no, it's just ice... hard as a rock and we'd struggle to go anywhere without crampons on our feet. The blue ice was perhaps a bit more dense than the white ice (less air). Though, occasionally there would be little pools of water on top of the hard ice.
