Contrast was poor in the last shot due to the extremes of lighting, so here's a slightly zoomed shot from our balcony. The "supreme" court of Athens is in the foreground hill to the right. A lot of the rock here is marble (surprise), and well at least what was a surprise to me was that the marble actually has become polished from millenia of feet and is extremely slipperly. Combine this with my flip flops which weld a tenuous grip at best and which are now separating at the sole and the result is almost certain unsure footing even on moderate terrain. Alison was having fun literally pushing me down the polished marble sidewalks in Athens. Clea tells us on most days they have a queue of ambulances at the bottom of the supreme court hill to collect tourists who have slipped on the marble rock and ended up at the bottom in a heap. The day we visited the Acropolis was actually the 3rd largest holiday for Greek Orthodox (the day Mary goes to heaven) so traffic was light and all the ruins and museums were free.
