Lydia hanging out in the rental car: a beautiful tan Kia Rio. Honestly, I like tiny rental cars. They handle better than the bigger ones and my new Kia had a plug for my iPhone, though the roll-up windows and no power door locks let alone keyless entry was a kick in the teeth. It felt very retro. When I had picked up the rental car at the Honolulu airport, the Hertz rental car lot was stocked with a row of brand new beautiful black and yellow Hertz signature color Corvettes, I suppose to maybe trigger an impulse upgrade. Or, just a sign that Hawaii's tourism economy is hurting, or both. Anyway, my car was pretty great. Not bad for $33/day with tax.
