The eternal flame for the unknown soldier, with the Church on the Site of Spilled Blood in the background. It's interesting to see these memorials, as each Russian city has one and they are constantly adorned with huge fresh flower boquets. I later learned (and witnessed) that brides come here before their wedding and deposit their flowers here as a tribute. This was most impressive to see in Moscow, where they actually have soldiers guarding the flame who march around and allow the newly weds entry to the memorial to place their flowers.
