For our last night, we stayed in a neighborhood called Insadon, which is the international/foreigner neighborhood. We saw more white people that one day than probably on our whole trip. There were also lots of black people. I read there was a non-negligible Nigerian population in Insadon, but we don't know whether any of the people we saw were Nigerian. The neighborhood had a lot of "exotic" restaurants for a Korean population, i.e. Irish pubs and Italian restaurants, as well as a Hard Rock Cafe (located next to our hotel, and also closed for remodeling). On our last morning, we got breakfast at the bakery next door that had done their own rendition of french toast: a cube of bread, with creamed butter inserted into various points and placed on top, along with fruit spread. It was very sweet, but not altogether bad. I do remember being hungry.

  • The neighborhood is called Itaewon. You're thinking of Insadong which is where we had that temple style lunch.
