Fun trivia tidbit about Colombia: they don't have a postal system. Yep, if you want to send someone a letter, you can hire a courier, or a freight carrier like DHL or the national airline. Given that Colombia is the size of California and Texas combined, this would seem to be a mighty inconvenience, and I get the impression getting stuff sent places is slow and expensive. Perhaps this is why my guide preferred to be paid in gear and not cash. So, after finding out I could FedEx my postcards to the States for about 6 USD each, I packed them in my bag and waited to mail them from my next stop, in Austin, Texas USA. Thus concludes my Colombian adventure. I went out that night with my new roommate Alex and got fancy arepas at a local restaurant, then hit the sack early to wake up and catch my 9am flight. I probably had my best Spanish conversation of the trip with my very chatty cab driver on the way to the airport, which was a satisfying way to end the trip.
