Bogota's newer business district. At the left is a tree-lined street which is used exclusively for pedestrian traffic and Bogota's bus system masquerading as a subway system: the Transmillenio. I rode it several times and it worked surprisingly well. Buses have several advantages over subways, especially for tourists: 1. You can see the city as you ride. 2. Buses can easily pass each other or avoid obstacles in the road. 3. You don't need to spend time going down underground... the stations were just platforms on the center median with turnstiles to access them.
