First optional jump. We had the choice of jumping off the rock at the right, or negotiating a sort of steep ramp down to the watercourse. We used a third option: we used my body as an anchor and Monica rappelled down to the pool to check the depth. Once we had determined the pool was deeper than Monica could reach, we all jumped off. It turned out sending the short person in the group to check the depth meant it was a little shallower than we had thought: maybe only 6 or 7 feet, so we all just barely touched the sandy bottom when we jumped.
