I assume someone checks the pond depth first?

Whenever we would jump off something we'd first lower someone to check the depth of the water. In this case, the picture fools the eye, I probably only fell 1-2 feet before hitting the water. If we had set the rope length shorter, or if the water was not as clear as it had been, checking the depth first would definitely have been necessary. Hiking out with a broken ankle would be no fun.
