I wonder how many years of snow accumulation are shown in this cross section here. Technically the bergschrund of the glacier, this is where the glacier falls away and its inner layers are exposed. Kind of like rings of a tree, you could make out faint horizontal lines of off-white which represent summers when dust and whatnot collects on the surface of the glacier.
