An awesome example of vortex shedding in the river. The water was flowing swiftly away from the camera, and there is a pier under the camera, right in the middle. You can see in the ripples where the water passes through easily and quickly, and then where there isn't much movement near the pier, but the fast moving water swirls back towards it. Random, yes, but for context: a lack of understanding of vortex shedding was what made the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse and why they put those huge side trusses on the Whitestone (right?) Bridge.
