As mentioned earlier, we decided not to go out on Thursday because of rain. Instead, we spent the morning at a Coconino National Forest field office near Flagstaff, where Mike finagled a 2+ hour meeting with the resident hydrologist. They discussed hydrology in the area: soil moisture, soil composition, etc. as well as weather patterns, topography, etc. Also, Mike got fancy custom color topographic maps of the area we planned to canyoneer in.
