Monica pulls herself from a pothole while Mike lends a hand. While the potholes here were relatively full, the rock was still mossy and slippery so getting out proved a task for the patient: try to scramble out quickly, and you'd slip and slide right back in, usually after banging your knee or some other body part on the smooth rock. However, slowly ease yourself while watching your balance, or resorting to the "beached whale" technique of using as much body area as possible to get purchase on the slick rock, you could eventually get yourself hoisted out of the water and on to dry and grippy ground again. I think rock climbing skills help for this.
