Here we reach the confluence with the mighty Colorado. The Colorado is dammed only 20 miles upstream by the Glen Canyon dam, so the water is color and clear, and relatively tame, completely unlike the Colorado described by John Wesley Powell or Edward Abbey. This was the first time I have ever been to the Colorado River (or Grand Canyon National Park).
