Mystery springs! Here is the exit to one of the more spectacular canyoneering adventures in Zion. We descended Mystery last year, and this last rappel down the waterfall pictured is one of the highlights of the trip. At this point, we are less than a quarter mile from the paved trail that leads to the narrows so tourists abound. Descending Mystery, you approach the top of the falls, poke your head out through the tiny funnel in the water course, and yell "Rope!" to signal to anyone who might be standing at the bottom of the falls to watch from above or move out of the way. After the tourists make a clearing, you throw down a rope and do your best to not slip on the mossy slick rock as the tourists point and pull out cameras and gasp apprehensively. From here, it's a fun short hike as you field questions from the "norms" - Andy's term for normal hikers who don't do things that require ropes and helmets.
