At this point we run into some Aussie cavers who were very excited to see our helmets and ropes and excitedly related their experience watching a group of canyoneers make the final 500 foot rappel sequence out of Heaps Canyon the day before. The Aussies are interested in doing a little canyoneering on their vacation, perhaps The Subway or Das Boot. We have to let them know that Heaps is a canyon for hard men only, consisting of forty rappels, at which point one of the Aussies exclaim "forty abseils!!?" as his eyes bug out of his head. It was a funny moment.
