Looking down a rappel into a cold, deep pool. It is actually a good thing that these pools are so full. When they are empty they often turn into what are referred to as "keeper" potholes: potholes that are so deep and smooth that it is difficult if not impossible to climb out with out the aid of specialized equipment. When the water level is high, you can simply swim to the edge and climb out, as the water has elevated you to a level that allows easy exit from the submerged pothole.
