I was trying to capture the translucent flakes on the highest arch of this croissant. Croissant-making has many steps but most of them are rolling, folding and resting a dough "envelope" that starts out with a single butter center but geometrically progresses into a series of paper thin alternating butter and butter-and-flour layers.
