Mexico City is built in a giant lake bed and thus all buildings tend to sink over time. Like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, this cathedral has slouched over the centuries, and this pendulum tracks its progress, including a 20th century effort to prop it back up, which has given it at least 100 year lease on life.
