Not exactly the rainforest: Even in Borneo, most of the wild jungles have been cut down and replaced with palm tree plantations. In fact, the swatch of jungle where we went trekking was one of six relatively small and disconnected patches of rainforest in the Sabah region of Malaysia. It was also not virgin rainforest: it had been clear-cut in the 1970's. Palm oil is used for cosmetics, and for bio-diesel.
