To add to the story - they have 64 acres - and 3 employees on the farm. She called the govt inspector to report the sudden death of a cow. He agreed that the cow had had a heart attack. At which point a farm hand cuts a generous slab of meat and gives it to him. Vegetables are very reasonable and provided under a rationing plan. But meat/fish is quite expensive.
