Was this a single tower bridge? Or does it span an island on the right there?

There's another tower to the left ... behind the old fortification stone tower which was built around 1400. It (the old one) had a matching one on the other side so that the builders could "control" the traffic on the Bosphorous. They built them at the narrowest part of the strait .... and 600 or so years later the first modern bridge across the Bosphorous was built at the same site.

I think a second would have to be behind the hillside, not the tower.
