Independence Monument, from the other side. John Otto on certain occasions (Flag Day?) would raise an American flag on the summit of Independence Monument. The tradition continues today (on the 4th of July). When Monica and I climbed it, we found the flagpole and other equipment stowed under a rock on the summit.
