On the way to our climb at Five Open Books (near Lower Yosemite Falls) Monica spotted a bobcat. I got in a bit closer for another picture and he gave a menacing growl. Look at those hind quarters!

Yes, I had never seen a bobcat before. Actually, Monica's first reaction was "Mountain lion!". Well, almost. Apparently either this guy or his friends are very active right now. Among our group of friends we had several bobcat sightings over the weekend... very unusual.
