Was looking to get a shot with no people. Those who lived there farmed the plateau above and went down into the valley for water. Though there were some 'seeps' through the sandstone in the back of the alcove if they were lucky

  • The circular holes are thought to be ceremonial - maybe religious places - called Kivas. We refer to our outdoor fire structures as Kivas. Their Kivas were probably covered and had a smoke and a ladder vent or hole in the roof. A tunnel came in near the floor - which was exactly placed to get the prevailing air currents.
