Jen cooking paella. All in all the Thanksgiving feast was amazing. Someone deep fried a turkey, the vegetarians deep fried an anatomically correct tofurky (complete with stuffing), there were 3 dressings, cranberry sauce, cranberry relish, fire-cooked sweet potatoes, salads of all sorts, brussels sprouts, roasted vegetables, a fire-roasted brussel sprout stalk, orange tempe, non deep fried tofurky, vegan gravy, paella, chocolate mousse, pumpkin pie (made from the baker's garden), apple crisp, pecan pie, whipped cream, and several varieties of cookies. I'm probably forgetting a lot of stuff too. Amazing for a 35-person potluck there was very little overlap!

a fire-roasted brussel sprout stalk .... I want one!

It turned out surprisingly well! It was slathered in oil / salt / pepper, then roasted, and finally wrapped in aluminum foil with a lot of water to steam it. It cooked for a long time and developed a crispy crust as well as a surprisingly soft almost butter texture and complex flavor not normally associated with overcooked Brussels sprouts.
