For whatever reason this meadow reminds me on one in NE PA near Sly Lake where we spent some summers - (minus the peaks)

Interesting. Our roommate Jasper is in the Pyrenees right now on vacation and he has posted some photos that reminded me of high alpine Sierra meadows like this one. Monica was particularly struck by the scenery here too. There's something very bucolic and welcoming about the green meadows and the rock-free footpath.

I think it is the footpath combined with the openness that struck me. "My" meadow had a stream running through it, roughly where the 'lower' ground is to the right of the path. Also the 'sprinkled' rocks sticking up. Very peaceful. I actually have gone back to the area (as we leaving the NE in '09) to find that the meadow is now all evergreens ... like the ones on the edges here. Of course, it has been 60 years since my memories.

Interesting. I had no idea it could change so fast. I often see big clearings in the woods where there are dead logs and wonder what changed.
