Cresting the north ridge of Diamond Peak we are offered our first view of Mt. Lassen. We had been planning to camp at Lake Helen, near the start of the summer tourist trail to the top of Mt. Lassen, but our glacial pace convinced us to camp at a nearer spot. We camped fairly close to where this picture was taken from.
