I was dumb enough to pay 100 yen to have my fortune told, which basically involves shaking up a can of sticks, until one stick comes out through a hole in the can. The stick has some Japanese writing on it, and you match it up with a drawer with the same writing on it and take your fortune from the drawer.

Those are some pretty awesome instructions, however. I particularly like the line-break hyphenations. And that you need to shake the box politely.
