The captain of the ship then filed a rather large insurance claim for the loss of ship and cargo (sugar, I believe) which was denied by the insurer on grounds of gross negligence and suspected fraud. Considering that this guy ran his ship aground on the only obstacle in the 7km channel for which the whole bay was named, and apparently the sugar cargo was never found, it did look to be a rather suspicious business.
