Bird flying over some scorched earth. Apparently, about five years ago, some Czech backpacker started a forest fire which burned 160 sq km of the park. Interestingly the Czech government, out of a feeling of responsibility, has gotten very involved with replanting and restoration efforts in the park. It would seem downright pathological to imagine the U.S. government feeling, let alone acting on, some type of responsibility for the actions of its citizenry abroad.
