  • It's amazing how big the water spots you dealt with are/were, and how long they stayed. It doesn't seem that Jay's or your camera was anywhere near as bad.

  • My experience is that this seems to be worse when the camera is new. I think my Olympus was pretty bad at first. We eventually resorted to wiping the lens with our shit or whatever (which seems to have removed a coating) but may have made the lens less hydrophobic, which may have helped. Really wish this camera just had a built-in lens cover. That would improve things significantly! I guess they are aiming this camera more at people who want to photograph underwater.

  • If possible, you might want to edit that comment to remove the (accidental) swear word :) :) Do you really think a lens cover helps? I mean, it'll still get wet (splashing, etc) and then the water drops are just stuck inside.

  • It doesn't completely solve the problem, but it minimizes it. A lot of water drops come from submerging the camera, not splashes. And usually when it's submerged, it's off, so the lens cover helps here a lot, actually. Even with splashes, let's say the camera is actually on for 5% of a trip, then the lens cover protects against 95% of the splashes that might occur.
