Joel and Colin pack the rope. Sadly, we noticed a core shot near the end of this rope, so my 60 meter rope is now more like 55 meters or so.

  • Huh, how'd that happen?

  • That last rappel in Upper Jumps (where I lost my camera) might have done it. The rope sort of gets wedged in that crack. The better alternative is to go through the watery cave, but we needed some waterproof lights for that.

  • It just seems odd that it would occur at the end of the rope, not nearer to the middle.

  • Why? Most rappels are short and you only use the section near one end. That last rappel was 30-35 feet at most.

  • I guess I'm getting messed up in the meters to ft. 60m -> 55m = 5m loss, or ~15ft. I guess I can believe that jam-up was that close to the end.
