This canyon's challenge is its narrowness. Although the distances involved were not very far, we had to descend much of this canyon with our backpacks danging on webbing hanging from our harness. The canyon was a very deep, narrow "V", so we used body friction (and hands and feet) to stay suspended up where it was wide enough to fit our bodies. Sometimes the canyon floor was as much as 30-40 feet below us, though we felt very secure in our position because of the high-friction sandstone and high number of features for getting purchase.

No affinity for spiders. Those spiders are gross. I saw some of them in our campsite. I was very glad I had a bivy sack.
