Texas has throughout history had six different flags fly at its capitol: Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, United States, and the Confederate States of America. The six flag motif is used extensively throughout the Capitol, and most dramatically as the theme of the marble-inlay floor of the main dome.
