Great picture. Amazing you could get that close. Was she / he "standing his ground" for some reason? The lizards in our back yard are spooked by the slightest sound / movement.

My best guess was that he/she was defending some young nearby. Not sure. I kept thinking he must be poisonous with those colors and he was about to leap out and bite me (as I inched my camera closer and closer for each successive shot).
