Descending down the Navajo slickrock. Improbably enough, horses and cattle are led across terrain like this. In many places, cowboys have chipped steps into the soft sandstone so cattle or horses can climb the stairs. They are called "moki steps" which refer to steps built by earlier native American cliff-dwellers who cut steps for humans into extremely steep rock faces.
