So the man who owned the mill when things started going south was a firm believer that the town would boom again. In order to protect his investment, he deputized a man whose job it was to protect the abandoned buildings from looting. This job was staffed from before World War II until the 1960's when he finally sold the town to the State for use as an historical park.
