Another view of an intake tower. Lake Mead is quite low at the moment. There are two intakes, the higher one is still 13' below this water line.

  • The white/brown line is the highest water level. Lake Mead has only filled up twice so that excess water had to be released. Once in 1937 (?) as a test and second in 1958 when two years of heavy snow and rain overwhelmed the lake. It is now considerably below the desired level. As a result the generators are only running at about 65% of capacity. Over the door at the top you may see a clock. This one says Nevada Time and the other side says Arizona Time.
