The straightness of the trunk, and the regularity of the pattern, made me half-suspect I would find a cell tower on the top of this. I have identified as Ponderosa Pine. Am I correct?

I think so! I would like to get better at identifying tree types. I remember seeing a book once that was sort of like a choose-your-own-adventure. (Does it have flat needles? Turn to p. 51. Round needles? Turn to p. 75... etc)
